Many folks who commute to school or work
and do a lot of city type riding will often choose a Hybrid
or as it is sometimes called a Cross Bike. While similar in
function to a comfort bike, these models offer a bit more performance
on the street as they are built on a shorter wheelbase frame
and use a taller 700 C rim for faster rolling. A hybrid is an
excellent choice for someone who rides daily and wants a little
more speed with their comfort. |

Mountain Biking is a tremendously popular
activity and we have many purpose built high performance Mountain
Bikes for this type of riding. Mountain bikes come in a variety
of sizes and shapes , either in full suspension or hard tail
configuration. Mountain biking is an excellent way to stay fit
and enjoy the outdoors. |

For those that want a higher performing
cycle for long road trips such as a charity ride or would just
like something that's fast, a Road Bike is the way to go. Today's
models are far more advanced than those of a decade ago. Equipped
with such things as STI shifter/brake levers and advanced frame
designs, the current road models offer a degree of performance
that would have been twice the price ten years ago. With spinning
reintroducing people to drop bars and Lance Armstrong's recent
success in the Tour De France, road bikes are definitely back. |

The average 8/9 to 14/15 year old boy may
very well want what we call a Freestyle Bike. These are the
bikes that you see competitors in the X games go off ramps with
and swing around in mid air. They are generally equipped with
axle pegs and rotor devices to assist in the execution of these
tricks and stunts. Many kids enjoy cruising around town with
their friends on this type of bike. |

Many adult riders today will
choose a recreational cycle with upright bars and wide tires
that we refer to as a Trail style bike. These bicycles can be
ridden almost anywhere by almost everyone and are generally
very user friendly. While they are not hard core mountain bikes,
they are certainly capable of providing a decent and stable
ride through soft sand or up a dirt road. |

These are similar to trail
style bikes in the fact that they both use wide 26" tires
and much of the same mechanical equipment. However, comfort
bikes are specifically designed to provide a soft and cushy
ride to people who ride mostly on the street and are equipped
with comfort features such as a suspension seat post and a flex
stem to help absorb bumps and vibration. |

Another type of deluxe bike for kids is the classic
BMX. This is a type of bike that first took off in the early
70's when dirt track racing on bicycles caught on in California.
Since then an entire generation of riders has grown up with
this type of bike (they replaced the old banana seat models).
They are generally lighter and faster than either a freestyle
or a dirt jumper. |
